This project will investigate the potential for improvements (resurfacing and signposting) on existing pathways in order to provide a safe and direct cycle link between Faringdon and Shrivenham, including a safe crossing for the A420. This is intended to be a utility so that people can get to and from work as well as a leisure cycleway. This is the first part of a more ambitious cycle network in and around Faringdon for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
Many Faringdon residents work in Shrivenham but the only road between Faringdon and Shrivenham is the A420 which is a fast and dangerous road. A cycle path would allow people to travel safely and quickly. A way of crossing the A420 is becoming increasingly necessary as the road become busier.
An outline plan for the proposed cycle routes is described in a letter from Focus on Faringdon to the Vale of White Horse District Council.
