Oxfordshire LINk

Congratulations to Gene Webb!!

An organisation called Links has been set up to influence the delivery of health and social services across Oxfordshire.
'The government have taken a strong view in recent years that the general public should be involved in, and allowed to voice their opinion about, how health and social care services should be run. Each council has been required to select a local organisation that will host an independent Local Involvement Network (LINk). Every Local Involvement Network will be created by the public. The members of the public that want to be a part of a LINk will decide how each is formed and run. Each one will be different depending on where each is based, the type of community that it serves, the numbers and types of people that want to be involved in running it and what the health and social care issues are that face those communities.'

Gene Webb has been elected to sit on the Stewardship Group to represent the Faringdon views.

There is now a Faringdon Area Project Health group. The group has only just been formed, but we aim:
. To gather service information and then publicise it throughout Faringdon
. To participate in patient groups for both Faringdon practises.
· To link with the Vale PCT consortium
· To become a Health voice for Faringdon, in influencing the PCT
· To understand the services available to Faringdon (on the Oxon/Wilts boundary) through Swindon PCT
· To ensure PCT take into account the projected population growth within Faringdon

It is evident from the contacts the FAP group has already made that the Health needs and opinions of Faringdon residents are not being heard. Being a member of the Stewardship group could help change this.
